Meeting Florence Scovel Shinn
I happened across the name of Florence Scovel Shinn on YouTube. I started listening to the audios of her books on YouTube but kept falling asleep after 10 minutes had passed. I was then guided again to her works when looking for some research into intuition. As I read about her on Wikipedia I had what I can only describe as an emotional response. There wasn’t much on the site to be fair. It said who her parents were, where she had lived, who she had married and a brief note on her work. As I was reading it, I felt very emotional and couldn’t understand why! How can you feel this when reading about a stranger?
Florence Scovel Shinn was born in 1871 in the U.S. She was an illustrator and met her husband Everett Shinn at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. They married and moved to New York. He built a theatre and Florence starred in several of his plays. In 1912 they divorced. Fairly unheard of in those times. There isn’t much that I can find recorded or written about her life but she wrote a book called The Game of Life and How to Play It in 1925, following some learnings around the metaphysical. Not only did she write this but no publisher was interested in publishing it. Did she give up? No. She self-published it. Again, at a time when this wasn’t the ‘norm’. Her second book, Your Word is Your Wand, she self-published in 1928, her final book self-published whilst still alive was The Door to Success in 1940. After she passed, The Power of the Spoken Word was published in 1945 and The Magic Path of Intuition in 2013. A rare manuscript was found and sent to Louise Hay, who published the manuscript. I have read it and loved it.

She was a spiritual lecturer/teacher and would give talks. In her book, The Magic Path of Intuition, which was published by Louise Hay, posthumously, she mentions being in London and giving talks here in the UK, although I haven’t been able to find anything else about this yet.
As an intuitive/psychic/medium I could feel the energy of Florence around me whilst I was reading about her. My grandma was also called Florence. Anyway, when someone wants to communicate with me, I feel tingling all over my head and I know I have a message that needs sharing. I sat down to write and asked who wanted to speak with me. What would you like to share?
“I believed in myself Lindsay as a young woman. Like you have this knowing as did I. I knew my books had to be birthed into the world. I knew I had to carry on writing even if at the time it seemed no one would pay attention. Your words matter Lindsay. You have discovered the excitement and the art of intuition. If one person writes about it you are seen as an exception, a crazy one. If more people do suddenly something clicks. I will help you with your articles on intuition.“
Was I your spirit guide in a past life? (I asked her, not even sure where this question came from)
“Yes. This is how you know so much Lindsay. You saw the work I did and you helped me then. I am now back to return the favour. People weren’t quite ready for my thoughts back in the 1920’s but those who did read my books it took them to new places, places beyond their wildest dreams and this is what my books will help you to do too. “Intuition is the world’s best kept secret” When we don’t use it or listen to it we lose our power. When we tap into our intuition, we get our power back. That is what ‘they’ most fear but this is the gift you are going to bring back for others. I am so excited by this and I will help you on this project 😊 My work also needs to be rediscovered so please do share what you read. You only need to share snippets but they will be so useful Lindsay and you can combine the work you do with mine. You will find that we have similar writing styles. We write from our own experiences rather than trying to write from a place we don’t know. There isn’t that much written or known about me. I will help you as this is one of the greatest gifts you can give humanity. The more you work with us and share our messages the more we will send the relevant people to you, for your land and community. I will leave it there for now but I will be back and will guide you”
I truly believe that Florence Scovel Shinn was highly psychic, empath, intuitive, sensitive and followed her heart and truly lived her life aligned with her purpose and following her intuition.
