When the shit hits the fan, what do you do?

What do you do? Do you hide your head in the sand and pretend it isn’t happening? Do you look the other way? I used to do this when I didn’t want to face up to a situation in my life. I did it so much that my friend actually sent me a book about an ostrich who kept hiding away when danger approached. Thinking that the approaching lions wouldn’t see this big black tail sticking in the air.

I would try to avoid conflict by looking the other way. Unable to have an honest conversation with anyone about how I felt and my beliefs in life. It was too much hassle and too much like hard work. It was better to be quiet and shut up.

Until one day I had had enough of being quiet. I stood up for myself and said no. It felt powerful. It felt awesome. I realised then that the power was within me to be me. The more I learned to stand up for myself, to speak my truth and face confrontations head on instead of hiding away, the more my confidence grew.

We find ourselves now in a space where there is much going on in the political and external arena that at times, we may feel we want to switch the news off and pretend that none of this is going on. Unfortunately, it is and like when we ignore a small twinge in our back, it can get worse until it reaches a point where you finally admit you need to see a chiropractor or an osteopath. There are some things you can do to help you when you find the proverbial shit hitting the fan.

  • Accepting the situation is the first step towards dealing with it.
  • Acknowledge what is happening.
  • Assess the situation and what tools you currently have to deal with it.

It is so easy to hide and pretend nothing is going on around you. Like I said, I have been there and done it. Whilst it may be easy, you aren’t being true to yourself or authentic.

The number one thing I have found in the majority of my clients over the last three years is blocked throat chakras. Why is this important? The throat chakra is where we express our needs and wants from. It is associated with communication. When this chakra is blocked, it hinders us from speaking our truth. Generally, in past lives people have been persecuted for standing up and speaking their truth and this can still stay with us, even now. As we begin to heal and balance this chakra as well as aligning the rest of your energies the easier it becomes to take your head out of the sand and deal with life head on.

If you are ready to stop being an ostrich, to speak your truth and communicate your needs and wants, book a 15 minute consultation with me and let’s get rid of the ostrich mentality
