I first set up a spiritual business way back in 2010. Fresh out of retail I set up NRG Healing, a company that would offer Reiki and I would sell a few crystals. Within a couple of months I was networking. Ah my days, at my first networking event I was one of six women in a group of forty men, all suited and booted. I remember shitting myself, not literally, when it came to me to stand up and introduce myself. I do Reiki I would whisper. Looking back it was uncomfortable, I hated it but actually it was so good for my growth. When I found out I was pregnant my business went on hold but I continued to support my then husband with a sugar business and later on a tuktuk business.
NRG Healing was restarted in 2016. Again it was primarily to do with Reiki and crystals, but as time went on and my own skills developed it became so much more. I started offering tarot card readings, past life readings, mediumship readings, crystal healing and later sound healing with my drum and voice. Every step of the way I trusted that I was being shown the next step.
How to set up your business in 2022
We are being encouraged to strongly follow our hearts. What do you love to do? Many of us have multiple income streams. We run events, publish books, create online courses. We are spiritual entrepreneurs. For me this means we listen to our heart and intuition, then learn the practical skills to ground our ideas into reality.
It is never too late to start your business. Sometimes, we suffer greatly from comparisonitis, looking at what others are doing and thinking we can’t do that. We have all started somewhere. It starts with an idea, then we create. If something feels aligned, roll with it. If you are fighting against something, let it fly.
Set up a FB page, an IG account, TikTok, YouTube, whatever you feel most drawn to and master the art of one platform before moving onto the next. I have used Tailwind in the past to schedule posts not only on IG but also on Pinterest. You can check it out here. 2022 is the first year I have written an actual business plan for my businesses. And you know what? It has been so helpful as a document to refer back to and utilize some of the words I have written for a website, for blog post ideas, for social media content. If you haven’t done one yet I highly recommend doing it. It can bring clarity and focus. When I was first given the name Temple Woman, I sat with a piece of paper and wrote down all of the things I wanted under the umbrella. This was back in November 2021 and nearly all of the things have already manifested!
For any spiritual business to have longevity and to be sustainable we need to balance our own energies. Our Divine masculine drives us forward pushing us into action, encouraging us to take risks, to be bold and take action. Our Divine feminine invites us to listen to our intuition, to soften, collaborate and take our time. Our work is not a race. We do a bit every day to drive us forward. An email to send. A page of our website to create. A group to start. Our first TY video. Our voices need to be heard, even more so now. I encourage you to put yourself out there, to jump out of your comfort zone. As an extrovert, most of the month, I LOVE networking. Meeting strangers, sharing stories, visions and dreams. For many in the spiritual business sector you may think you won’t fit in, what do these people need from me? I was a member of 4N for a while. In my second week I was asked if I would like to give a talk. I’d love to, I said. Sometimes I swear, someone else takes over my voicebox, as driving away I was like why the fuck did I say that. Anyway I gave a talk entitled from Retail to Reiki. My second talk there was 35 people in the room and I led them on a guided meditation with crystals. Accountants, solicitors, property developers all need some emotional support at times and when you offer something a bit different, people will always remember you, so get out there and share what you do.
When you meet people in the same field as you see if you can collaborate together. Where do they hang out? Can you follow them on Instagram? Facebook? do they have a blog that needs some love? Comment on their posts. As you help them they will help you in return.
For most of us running a spiritual business boils own to one thing, how can we be of service to others. Often our work isn’t about the hours spent with clients but the hours spent on ourselves so we can be in the best place for our clients. Our work comes through our words, our actions and a bit through our ‘work’. Working 9 til 5 every day isn’t possible for us as we need time out, time for ourselves, to meditate, to ground, to spend time in nature. So when you are starting your spiritual business remember that spending time on you is just as important as your business.
