Is 2023 the year you decide to share your story?

I don’t know about you but 2022 has been a wild ride. Finally coming out of the aftermath of lockdowns and the world changing forever in 2020, I was hoping for a peaceful year. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. 2022 has been a year of ultimate challenges, family court, narcissism, moving to another part of the world, evictions, relationships breaking down and new relationships forming. When I look back on this year, I sometimes think, if I had known how crazy this year would be, I would have probably booked a one way flight to the back of beyond and hid in a cave. I would have learnt survival skills and how to be alone. But that would have been it. I have learnt so many lessons this year and grown in ways that it would not have been possible had I been living a solitary life in the mountains. Or maybe I would have done.

Many of us are currently on the ground, so to speak. We are facing challenging times, not only as a collective, but as individuals. Sometimes, it feels that you are alone. Sometimes, you get to have other bad ass warriors and warrioresses alongside you for the ride. Sometimes, it is just you. Alone with your thoughts, your journey, your challenges. Your journey and your story is unique. We may all face pain, trauma, hurt, love, kindness and compassion, but every single person’s story is different. We learn through reading someone else’s story. We empathise with them. We sympathise. We allow that person a space in which to share how they moved from A to B.

I have recently been given some funding to write a book about the Martyrs of Wigtown, which for the record, I don’t feel they were. They were two ladies who refused to sign an oath of allegiance to the king and were killed because of that. Their freedom was taken from them. It is important for me to share their story as they didn’t have that opportunity. You do. If 2023 is the year you decide you want to share your story but maybe need some help getting it out into the world check out http://www.templewomanpublishing.com We would love to hear from you and what your story is about. Every person’s story is valid and deserves a voice.
