The idea of Temple Woman was one which was gifted to me whilst dancing in a field during lockdown. With several others I was stomping around the field to an African drumming tune and the name, Temple Woman, popped into my head. I couldn’t stop thinking about the name, what is this?
I got home and brainstormed the name. Around it I wrote circles, membership, online courses, publishing, wellbeing days, retreats. Temple Woman Publishing was birthed in early 2022 with my editor, June Alexander. We wanted to empower women to share their stories and their voices through self-publishing and self-marketing.
The first Temple Woman wellbeing day was held in York back in the summer and was kindly sponsored by June Tranmer of Wellbeing in York. With 16 stallholders and 50 attendees we had a great day. I hope to plan more of these in Scotland, where I am currently residing.
I opened the membership to 15 members, with the idea of creating a community benefit society. This is something which is still ongoing and something I will be focusing on in the beginning of the year as well as running monthly circles for women to gather.
I held a beautiful retreat with Emily Catherine Webster where we combined our love of sound and healing, with nature and dancing in the woods. I am planning more retreats and collaborations in 2023.
